Kunja Village Homestay

Made by hand

Hands & Crafts

The living skills of the hills — Aipan art, weaving, woodwork and farming, passed down through families and still practised every day. Not heritage behind glass, but craft woven into ordinary Kumaoni life.

All of Explore

Nearly everything useful here was once made by hand, and a good deal of it still is — ringaal baskets woven from hill bamboo, copper beaten in Almora's bazaar, wool spun and knitted through the long winters, aipan drawn in rice-paste across every threshold.

These are the skills the hills held onto while the cities let them go.
