Kunja Village Homestay

The heart of the hills

Rituals & Faith

Phool Dei in spring, Harela's green shoots, the lamps of Diwali and Ghughutiya's sweet dough birds — the festivals and quiet daily rituals that mark the Kumaoni year. Faith and festivity, woven into ordinary days.

All of Explore

Faith here isn't saved for festivals; it runs through the ordinary day — the lamp lit at dusk, the pithya pressed onto a leaving guest's forehead, the mangal geet sung at a wedding.

Much of it is older than any temple, kept by women, in the courtyard, without a word of it written down.
