Kunja Village Homestay

How the hills move

Getting Around

For most of its history Kunja was reached on foot, goods carried on backs and mules along the old paths. The road came late. A look at how people and things move through these slopes, then and now.

All of Explore

Getting to Kunja is half the planning and half the pleasure — the train as far as Kathgodam, then the slow climb by road through Almora, hairpin after hairpin, the pine thickening and the air thinning as you rise.

Once you're here, the village is best taken on foot: nearly everything worth seeing is a walk, a short drive or a guided trek from the door.
