How to know it
A big, all-black crow with a heavy, deep bill and a steep forehead. The intelligent, all-seeing crow of the hills, with a hoarse, deep caw.
What it eats
Anything — carrion, scraps, grain, fruit, insects, eggs and small creatures. The great opportunist.
Where & when to spot it
Everywhere across the hills — village, forest, temple grounds and ridge-tops — in pairs and loose groups, missing nothing.
Nesting & mating
A bulky stick nest high in a tree; three to five eggs in spring.
