Birds of Jageshwar

Jageshwar, a short drive from Kunja, is best known for its ancient cedar grove and cluster of stone temples — and the deep, shaded deodar forest around them is wonderful for birds. The tall trees and the stream draw species you won't always find in the open village: water redstarts along the water, crows and corvids high in the canopy.

Come early, before the day's pilgrims, and walk the quiet paths beyond the temples in Almora district, Kumaon.
