Birds of Barechhina

Barechhina is the little market town down the road from Kunja, in Almora district, where the hills open out toward the river. The mix of cultivation, scrub and waterside brings a different set of birds — bushchats and stonechats in the open ground, a white-throated kingfisher along the water, tits in the roadside trees.

An easy half-day out from the homestay, and a good first step away from the village itself.
