All birdwatching

Jim Corbett National Park, near Ramnagar on the Kumaon edge, is India's oldest national park and one of its richest birding grounds — over 600 species along the Ramganga river and through its sal forests, all under the same canopy as the tiger.

From the Great Hornbill and the rare Pallas's Fish Eagle to the winter Ibisbill picking over the shingle, it's a full day (or two) of birding well worth the drive. Our own photographs from here are on the way.

The prizes here

We've birded here ourselves — our photographs are on the way. In the meantime, these are the species worth coming for.
