Birds of Bhimtal
Bhimtal, Nainital · Kumaon, Uttarakhand · ≈ 100 km from Kunja
All birdwatchingBhimtal is a broad lake ringed by wooded hills in Nainital district, and one of the easiest, most rewarding introductions to Kumaon's water birds. Kingfishers and forktails work the edges, while thrushes, woodpeckers and flycatchers call from the oaks above.
Quieter than its famous neighbour Nainital, and a lovely half-day's birding. Photographs from our own visits are on the way.
