Birds of Haridwar

Haridwar · Garhwal, Uttarakhand · ≈ 340 km from Kunja

All birdwatching

Haridwar is where the Ganga finally leaves the hills for the plains, and the broad river, its islands and the wetlands around it draw a wonderful range of water birds — fish eagles and thick-knees on the shingle, lapwings and wagtails at the edges, gulls and terns over the water through winter. The Chilla range of Rajaji sits just across the river. Our own photographs from here are on the way.

The prizes here

We've birded here ourselves — our photographs are on the way. In the meantime, these are the species worth coming for.
